Homeschool
HSAP is an option for home school parents. It is our mission to support and assist parents in their chosen role as the primary educator for their students. We recognize the parent’s responsibility for setting the educational goals and selecting the curriculum, materials, and techniques to be utilized for their child or children.
Each family enrolling in HSAP will be assigned a certified teacher to provide assistance and guidance. HSAP students have the opportunity to be dual enrolled for some public school courses, experiences and/or activities if they wish.

Join the DCSD Homeschool Assistance Program, parents must complete Form A supplied by the Iowa Department of Education.
In addition, the HSAP teacher is available to consult with and advise the parents with respect to the following:
- Helping parents to establish educational goals and objectives
- Providing district textbooks and supplemental materials
- Developing lesson plans
- Assisting in teaching and learning techniques
- Diagnosing student learning strengths and weaknesses
- Planning curriculum
- Interpreting test results
- Record keeping
Other features and benefits to the HSAP are:
- HSAP children may be dually enrolled for some courses and/or school activities while participating in HSAP. Fees for materials and activities will be the same as those charged to parents who have students enrolled in the regular school curriculum.
- Davenport’s HSAP includes options for enrichment classes and activities for elementary and secondary students. These offerings are optional to HSAP families and provide students with enrichment that will complement their education at home. There is no cost to HSAP families for these offerings.
HSAP Requirements
To ensure compliance with state law and the continued success of your child’s education in HSAP, the following requirements must be met:
ISASP Testing Available for All Homeschool Families
Did you know that ISASP testing isn’t just for HSAP (Home School Assistance Program) students? All homeschooled students are welcome to take the test. Families can choose to have their child tested either through DCSD or at the Mississippi Bend AEA (MBAEA). This is a great opportunity to assess your child’s progress and meet state requirements, if needed. To schedule or for questions contact the HSAP Office at 563-336-7497.
